I love the textures in this. Do you use Illustrator? I’ve tried to use Illustrator to create cartoons but I just can’t get the same feel as using a pen or pencil…I suppose I really need to spend some time getting to know the full power of the programme.

I used Photoshop. I’ve made some brushed for myself that I use when I paint. I sometimes do type in Adobe Illustrator for books, rough type layout that I draw atop. But I rarely draw in it anymore, though in my previous careers working on games and Flash stuff I drew a ton in Illustrator. I just haven’t used it much lately. But I do start all my drawings from pencil sketches I scan in. I can’t sketch on my Wacom the same way I do with pencils and paper. But all the final lines and painting is done in Photoshop.

That’s very interesting, I use photoshop a lot but never thought to use it to digitally paint an entire scene, all my images are scanned in but I use the original pen lines. Hmmm I might try recreating them with photoshop brushes…so much to learn, so many things to try, so little time to try them! perhaps for my next cartoon I’ll have a bash!
