One of a set of 6 ‘classic’ monster faces I created. Not sure what to do with them. T-shirts?
All the art in this series are based on recollections of some of my favorite monsters.

One in a series of 20. I’d love to have these printed at like 8 feet wide. Clicking will make it bigger.

This is a much more painterly piece that was an early take for an upcoming picture book.
Ultimately it was decided that the style should be less painterly and the characters were redesigned as well. It’s cropped so you can’t see the far right because that would give too much away about the book concept and title ETC. Later this year I will post the final results, once the book is done and delivered. But I often start working on a book by painting in different styles. And working with an AD or editor I tend to find something everyone likes. Click on it to make it bigger.

This is a page from a story book that I work on to keep myself busy when I am stuck on something else. It’s a chance to try out some styles and have fun experimenting without a deadline being attached to it. The story is currently called, The Kingdom of Birds, but I think that will change, at some point. When I think of a better name.
It’s more a story book than a picture book. A retro-fairytale really. It was developed from a pencil sketch and drawn/painted in Photoshop.

This is an in progress painting for a project I will talk more about soon. It started off as a doodle, and I casually started painting it just for fun. But this project slowly developed and the painting seems to fit it perfectly. Painted in Photoshop from a quick sketch.

This is nearly finished, but not quite. This is part of a two page spread from a kids book story I wrote. But, I don’t like the story anymore, it just doesn’t work. So the manuscript is taking a long overdue holiday in the bottom on a cabinet. But I wanted to finish off at least one of the spreads, just for my portfolio, if for nothing else. So here is part of it. A few monster kids. I like the zombie in the back best.
Done on Photoshop from a pencil sketch.
