America has a unique ability to create National Whatever Days. Though we don’t yet get to stay home from school or have work cancelled on May 15th, there is little doubt that the best National Whatever Day is approaching – National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day on May 15th. I’ll be prepping for the big day by stocking up on butter, chocolate chips, eggs…you know, the three food groups.
It’s the day we hoist the red, white and blue flag with a huge chocolate chip cookie on it high into the air. Just as the founding fathers did when they defeated the shortbread eating British in the 1776 bake-off in Philadelphia’s Confectionary Square. (truth!)
It’s the one day of the year where I dunk my cookies side-by-side with the heathens who like walnuts in their chocolate chip cookies.
National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day needs a tagline. Here’s a few:
- National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day. Better than raw eggs day.
- National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day. The cookie day that kicks all other cookie’s days butts.
- Ever heard of National Oreo Cookie day? No. I didn’t think so.
- National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day. We all know what kind of cookie Cookie Monster was demanding.
