Here’s a newish review of Earthling! at books4yourkids.com. I know, I know…I’m not supposed to repost reviews. I’m trying to not even read reviews. I’ve read bad reviews of some of the books I’ve done and I think about them for weeks. The reviewer may be right or may be wrong. But either way the book is done and there’s nothing I can do. So it’s better too glance at them for a moment at the very most.
Anyway, this is a long review featuring lots of art. I love that the art gets a chance to be seen by perspective readers and buyers and I like that the reviewer appreciated that Earthling! is a BIG story. I wanted to craft a big adventure story. Not a slap-stick filled fart-joke fest. Not that there’s anything wrong with those though. I just didn’t want to do that. And I think I cut out the one fart joke. My hope is that Earthling! is a book a young reader will pick up and get lost in. Maybe think about later. And hopefully something they will finish. It can provide a good sense of accomplishment for a young reader to get to that last chapter.
I just finished reading a book I’ve been reading for a month or so. It can be quite sad to flip that last page and feel like your friends are gone. That’s how you know you’ve read a good book.

Hi, I discovered you via Penelope Trunk’s blog. What a great discovery! I read the review of your book and it sounds hysterical. My daughters will love it. I am going to rush to the shop and buy it. Not sure if it will be in stock in Australia – if not, I’ll buy it online. Your tweets are very funny, also. Is that your daughter’s Barbie homicide scene?
Thanks for stopping by. I think it’s in Australia. But it wasn’t even on Amazon here in America for like two weeks. I think they ran out. My daughter definitely has a love-hate thing with Barbie. When I play Barbie with her, one is always ‘evil’ and mean. After awhile I feel bad for the mean one because of how bad and mean she is. I finally talk my daughter into letting a Polly Pocket Fairy cast a spell and make the bad Barbie good. But it’s a long discussion…But then the other BArbies don’t like her because she used to be mean. A Barbie’s life is so complicated.
I just called my local bookshop and they DO have copies! YAY. I never feel sorry for any Barbies. Not even the ‘ethnic’ looking fake Barbies my mother-in-law bought my daughters, thinking I would approve of them.
Thank for picking up a copy. I hope it is enjoyed. I’m thinking I need to tackle the Barbie issue in a post one of these days. My daughter seems to be equal parts repulsed and fascinated by them. I have had to watch several Barbie movies too. That’s a task not to take lightly. Thanks again!
Great review, and the book looks fantastic!
Thanks. As I have said before, it’s a particular type of book. And I think people looking for a really fast or easy graphic novel read may be disappointed. It’s an adventure story and I hope it finds the readers who are looking for that. Hope you are well and I see you’ve been busy with the second book in the Moon Realm series! Congrats!
